If you are looking for the purest form of film analysis, you will not find it here, since my sphere of understanding is very much confined to story. I prefer to analyse plot, theme and character; any discussion regarding the score, the cinematography or the acting talent is minimal and only undertaken if it’s necessary to explore any mystery or ambiguity within the story.
Within this site you will find my thoughts on various films that have intrigued me. What’s most interesting to me are stories that challenge our ideas about humanity and its place within the universe. Therefore, for the most part, I only look at science fiction. This is the grandest genre that not only has the power to leave its audience awestruck but can awaken within it the most insatiable curiosity.

Although they almost certainly fall into this category, you will not find any classics here, such as Metropolis, 2001: A Space Odyssey, or Blade Runner, since there is little to be gained from echoing the endless words already applied to their deconstruction. I am primarily concerned with newer releases which give me the opportunity to offer an original perspective and begin new conversations.
What you will hopefully find here is an exploration of the messages hidden within a film, and therefore the significance of the events unfolding at the story’s surface. Although we can never fully deconstruct art into its constituent parts, this site seeks to understand some of the mystery.

Any chance you’ll begin offering some analysis of Alien: Covenant before the blu ray edition and high resolution images from the film are released?

I have seen the film, but I didn’t deem it worthy of analysis, I’m sorry. I didn’t believe it was mysterious at all. Unfortunately for the franchise the profundity departed as soon as Lindelof left the building.
